Barmah National Park

Located on the Murray River in northern Victoria, the Barmah National Park (together with Millewa forest in NSW) forms the world's largest River Red Gum forest.

The national park is a popular destination for recreation including walking, fishing, camping, boating/canoeing and swimming.

Jo Bell Heritage Services is currently completing Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs) for Parks Victoria, for the proposed upgrade of two camping and recreation areas in the Barmah National Park, Barmah Lakes at Barmah and the Gulf Camping Area at Yielima.

These projects involved working closely with the Traditional Owners, Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation, to assess, record and manage the Aboriginal cultural heritage values in the area.
